I’ve been meaning to read Fallout: Equestria for over a year now. A friend of mine read it all in a few days, so I should be able to read it in over 12 months you’d think. Luckily, Sprocket assured me that I can read his story, The Hooves of Fate, without knowledge of Fallout: Equestria, and so I did—yet, here and there, now and then, I got the inkling that an insightful reference had just slipped me by.

But his story promises much more than just references, it is set to lay a new foundation for the magnum opus, one veiled in the distant past otherwise known and our present, where Rose Petal just earned her cutie mark.

A young filly in present day Ponyville is cursed with nightmares of post-apocalyptic Equestria. She finds herself influencing the course of future history in ways that nopony notices, and that she herself cannot understand. Without her seemingly minor contributions, many of the events depicted in Fallout: Equestria (by Kkat) would not be possible.

She must learn to balance her life at home with her life on the other side of the veil, and fight to preserve her own sanity, and her own innocence. She discovers that such a task is only possible through the magic of friendship.

Head over to FiM Fiction to read it.

Update 2013-04-01 14:00Z: Hear ye, hear ye! The second chapter is out! (And no, no April fools’, I’m just a few days slow.)

Update 2013-04-29 18:00Z: The third chapter is up, A Horse With No Name! Rose Petal finally confides into someone and sees a mysterious green book.

Update 2013-06-27 19:00Z: A few days ago, Sprocket published the fourth chapter, and yesterday I finally had time to read it. It is longer than the previous chapters, action packed, and ends with what feels like more of a cliffhanger than the previous chapters. Definitely a great read!
